Hispanic Lay Festival Draws 1800 |

The evangelistic work among the Hispanic people of the Potomac Conference territory moved into high gear for the start of 2008 at the Ocean City Hispanic Lay Festival. The crowd of 1,800 was joined by Conference president, Bill Miller and other officers to celebrate an explosive year of evangelism in 2007 and to kick off a major evangelistic thrust for 2008. Jose Esposito, Hispanic Ministries Coordinator for Potomac, states that Hispanic Ministries is planning to add 2,147 new souls for 2008. Coming!"
The first fruits of that work was 12 baptisms at the festival which brought preaching and seminars from January 17 through the 20th at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center. Evangelist, Alejandro Bullon presented on Friday, Sabbath morning and Sunday. Jorge Ramirez, Vice President for Administration and Multicultural Ministries, notes: "It is truly exciting to see the tremendous work that God is doing through our dedicated workers. These brothers and sisters have a passion and a plan to reach souls, and occasions like this keep the fire of faith burning in all our hearts."
Attendees also shared their views. Becky Rivas reports, "I feel God has used these preachers to teach us to be strong for Jesus and to always look to Him whenever we think we are failing. I am inspired to preach my love for Jesus and His second coming to everyone." Janellie Mesa agrees: "After this event I find myself wanting to give everything I have to Jesus. I want to do my part to speed up His second coming" Elsa Garcia concluded: "Time is running out and we need to prepare ourselves, through events such as these, to preach his word to those who don't even know that there is a loving God waiting for them with open arms."
The Hispanic churches of Potomac, under the direction of Esposito, plan to plant 15 new congregations and establish 578 new small groups this year. The mission statement for the year is "Jesus Is |
