Twenty-two professional and highly talented musicians from around the Columbia Union were honored and awarded recently during the first Guild of Adventist Musicians Music Awards Ceremony. Run like a Hollywood-studded Grammy Awards ceremony, many friends, family, and other nominee supporters celebrated the winners and enjoyed the numerous musical performances from many of the union’s own A-list musicians.

Priceless! That was the word used to describe the United Youth Service Corps to an audience at a recent statewide awards ceremony. The United Youth Service Corps, a ministry of Seventh-day Adventist youth from Baltimore area churches, was honored as a recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award. Four youth and four adults (pictured) members of the corps traveled to Annapolis, Md., and received the award from Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown. |

An F1 Tornado hit Allegheny East’s George E. Peters Seventh-day Adventist School in Chillum, Md., Sunday afternoon destroying part of the gym and roof and overturning a trailer. The school shares a campus with the conference’s Metropolitan church and Chillum Oaks Apartments, a senior housing complex. Though there were people at both of these locations for events, no one was hurt. |

The officers of the Potomac Conference, representatives from local government, members of Maranatha Volunteers International (which helped build the facility), and members of area churches—more than 500 people in all—came together to dedicate the facility to the Lord. |

Hundreds of Hispanic youth and young adults gathered recently for the Potomac Conference’s First Hispanic Youth Rally. Organized by PC Jovenes (www.pcjovenes.com), the conference’s youth-led ministry, attendees enjoyed good music, fellowship, testimonies, preaching, and seminars. Guest speakers Tray Hayden and Terry Johnsson, popular Potomac pastors and speakers, capitalized on the event theme “Actualiza tu Vida (Upgrade Your Life)”, challenging the youth to “connect with the One who can truly improve your mind, your relationships, and your life.”
