The Bible tells the story of two wealthy ranchers who lived long ago in the Middle East. Abram and his nephew, Lot, drifted from place to place, looking for a good spot to settle down. By the time they reached the plain of Jordan, they had a problem. “But the land couldn’t support both of them; they had too many possessions...Abram said to Lot...Look around. Isn’t there plenty of land out there? Let’s separate. If you go left, I’ll go right; if you go right, I’ll go left” (Genesis 13:6,8,9 The Message). 
Modern-day miracles and supernatural events surround us. Mobbed with tabloid stories of half-frog humans, alien abductions and pets that solve murders, and many popular T.V. shows that chillingly thrill viewers with storylines built around communicating with the dead, we are deadened to amazing and unexplained happenings by over-exposure to tales of the fantastic. 
Recently I had a medical procedure which required me to drink about a gallon of liquid in a couple of hours. Every ten minutes I was to consume eight ounces of this clear stuff which was supposed to have a "cherry" flavor to it. The directions recommended that the solution be cooled, and desiring to be an exemplary patient, I followed all the directions to the letter. 
Jesus said that coming to God is like coming to dinner. To show what He meant, He told this story:
One of the more popular television shows in the past few years has been a program called Extreme Makeover. The show’s “hook” revolves around the belief that people will actually feel different if they can only look different. 
My world is changing around me and I have to face it. And like most people I don’t really like change. Something about facing the unknown makes one feel very uncomfortable. Most would rather keep things the way they are because one knows what to expect and how to deal with it. 
"Then I took a good look at everything I'd done, looked at all the sweat and hard work. But when I looked, I saw nothing but smoke..." Ecclesiasties 2:11 
The Bible says that we should always pray, and not lose heart (Luke 18:1). One day I was visiting with a young woman who was telling me about all her problems. And she had a lot of them. Before leaving, I offered to say a prayer for her. "I don’t think so," she said. "I haven’t had any luck with my prayers."

Fue un gigante como hombre, que realizó hazañas sobrehumanas de fuerza y habilidad. Bosques enteros fueron derribados con un golpe de su poderosa hacha y muchas de las maravillas naturales del Oeste, como el Cañón del Colorado y otros sitios, fueron supuestamente creados por su explotación. 
"Con sus plumas te cubrirá y debajo de sus alas estarás seguro; escudo y protección es su verdad" Salmo 91:4. Las autoridades criminales afirman que una de las mejores formas de protegernos a nosotros mismos y a nuestros hogares de los intrusos, puede ser la más barata. Esta estrategia es tan poco ortodoxa que muchas personas la descartan, pero los profesionales que luchan contra el crimen nos dicen que esta técnica puede ser usada exitosamente en muchas áreas que tienen que ver con la seguridad de nuestro hogar. Es sencilla, económica y se nos dice que es bastante efectiva.
